What does an NVQ Assessor do?
NVQ assessors assess and give support to individuals who training to gain an NVQ, ensuring that candidates meet the national work-related standards required to achieve the NVQ qualification.
An NVQ assessor is required to:
- Plan and deliver NVQ programmes
- Examine an NVQ candidates' portfolio of evidence
- Observe candidates at their place of work
- Provide feedback and offer constructive advice if the required standards are not met
- Ask the NVQ candidates questions to establish how they would handle a variety of situations
- Sign off the NVQ when all the required modules have been met by the nvq candidate
- Maintain excellent records of the candidates' progress, according to the requirements of the NVQ governing bodies
How does the NVQ Assessor operate?
NVQ Assessors must operate as Assessors through, and be registered with, Approved Centres – that is, organisations)
that have been given formal approval by NVQ Awarding Bodies to deliver their NVQs – they may be colleges, employers or
specialist training providers.
